Come for a month of undisturbed focus on your work, surrounded by mossy forests, stone paths, and timeless beauty that feels like Middle Earth itself.
Here, you set the rhythm. Write in solitude, dive into your creative process, or—if you feel called—explore Galician culture, history, and community at your own pace. The music, the food, the people, the stories. It's right outside your window, with English-speaking guides to unlock that mystery and show you the way.

La Colmena del Carpintero is the last house in a small village in rural Galicia. The road ends at the house, and becomes a path that leads to miles and miles of hiking trails that cut through, around, and across several mountains. This is communal land, available to all who wish to wander and explore. You might see ancient stone walls and petroglyphs, waterfalls, old grandmother oaks and chestnuts that have witnessed the passage of many hundreds of years of history. It's likely you'll see some of our native wild horses, or maybe some free-roaming cows or wild boars.
There is a small bar and a church a 10-minute walk from the house. Cerdedo is a town with a couple of stores, cafes and restaurants and is a 10-minute drive from the house. A Estrada is a 20-minute drive and has many stores, bars, and restaurants. The ocean is a half hour away. Santiago de Compostela is a 45 minute drive, Portugal is one hour away.
You can come along on our trips to the store and around Galicia, or rent a car for more personal freedom.
We rent our writer's apartment a month at a time to give writers a chance to fully disconnect from the routine of their daily lives and find their core connection to this ancient, elemental environment.
If this length of time is impossible for you, we will allow two people to share the month. Both parties must commit and register at the same time.
The cost to rent our writer's apartment for a month is 2800€. This includes a fully equipped apartment, multiple writing spaces, all utilities including wifi, access to free laundry facilities, weekly apartment cleaning, towels and sheets, grocery delivery, occasional meals or drinks with your hosts. A deep dive and immersion in Galician culture can be facilitated for an additional fee.
